About Us
From Father to Son
Our shop has been meeting the needs of commercial customers who need a quality laser mark for 22 years.
Rob Weigel took over ownership of Weigel’s Laser Engraving a few years ago after working with his father for over a decade. Rob was taught the business by his dad, who was looking for someone he could trust to take on the family business.
Rob has continued to grow Weigel’s Custom Laser Engraving since taking on the leadership role. During this time, Rob has expanded the company’s customer base, the technologies the company utilizes to make a custom mark, and the company's size overall.
Our Founder
Terry Weigel stepped out of the machine shop world and into the laser engraving business in 1999. Having become a machinist in 1962, Terry continued working as a machinist until 1977. After 1977, he stepped into a management role with the completion of his mechanical engineering degree from OSU in 1977. He was involved in management roles at two major Portland area companies over several decades, ultimately becoming the VP of production for the last company he worked for as an employee.
Terry invited his son to leave the construction industry, where he served as a project coordinator, project manager, and pre-construction estimator for a large firm in Denver, and join him in his laser engraving business. Bringing back his granddaughters from Denver had nothing to do with it. :)
Terry’s understanding of high-quality machining and measurement techniques and Rob’s estimating, scheduling, and time management techniques were a perfect mesh to create a very sought-after laser business.
From 2005 to 2020, they worked side by side, producing the Portland area's best laser engraving for commercial and industrial customers.
Our Commitment
Weigel’s Laser Engraving will always be focused on three things. A high-quality mark, at a fair price, with a quick turnaround.
While these three things will never change, we’re looking forward to continuing our growth and meeting the needs of new customers who present us with challenging and interesting needs.
